Description
The cucumber is a long, green, and refreshing vegetable (technically a fruit) from the gourd family.
Appearance: It has a dark green skin that is often smooth or slightly waxy, with a crisp, pale green flesh inside. Its center is filled with tiny, edible seeds.
Taste & Texture: It has a very mild, slightly sweet flavor and is famously high in water content (about 96%), giving it a cool, crisp, and hydrating crunch.
Common Use: Because of its refreshing nature, it is most commonly eaten raw in salads, sandwiches, or sliced and dipped in dressings. It is also used to infuse water or to soothe skin (think cucumber slices on eyes at a spa).
